  1. What's the book collection at EL&CM like? 
    EL&CM houses 30,000+ volumes in English, Arabic, and other languages. Rare books from Queen Effat's 1950s library are also here.

    We've got you covered. Access 350,000+ scholarly materials through databases like ProQuest, IEEE, eBooks, and more.

    Absolutely. Connect through Open Athens at https://my.openathens.net to access digital resources remotely.
     
  4. How do I search for resources? 
    Use our user-friendly tools: KOHA Integrated Library System, OPAC, and Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS).
     

Borrowing FAQ

  1. How many items can students and staff borrow, and what's the borrowing duration for books?
    Students and staff can borrow up to 10 items for 2 weeks.
     
  2. What's the borrowing limit and duration for faculty members? 
    Faculty members can borrow up to 35 books for one semester.
     
  3.  How long can library users borrow technology devices? 
    Technology devices can be borrowed for one week.
     
  4. Where should borrowed items be returned? 
    All borrowed items must be returned to the Circulation desk.
     
  5. Can items be transferred between borrowers? 
    No, items cannot be transferred; the borrower remains responsible until returning the item to the user services desk.
     
  6. Can specific technology devices be reserved beforehand? 
    No, reservations for specific devices are not possible, and availability isn't guaranteed.
     
  7. What happens if an item is lost or damaged? 
    Borrowers are responsible for replacement costs of lost or damaged items.
     
  8. What is the fine for overdue books? 
    The fine for overdue books is SAR10 per item for each working day past the due date.
     
  9. What is the fine for overdue technology devices? 
    The fine for overdue technology devices is SAR50 per day.
     
  10. Can fines be paid later, or must they be settled immediately? 
    Fines must be paid before further checkouts or renewals can be processed.
     
  11. How are borrowers reminded of due dates? 
    While the library sends email reminders, it's the borrower's responsibility to return items on time.
     
  12. Can borrowed items be renewed? If so, how many times? 
    Book items can be renewed up to 2 times, unless another user needs the item. Device items can be renewed only once.
     
  13. How can borrowers renew items? 
    Renewals can be done in person, through the online library portal, or by phone at extension 920003331 (ext. 7684, 7687, or 7692) before the due date.
     
  14. What is the policy for replacing lost or damaged items? 
    Lost or damaged items will be replaced by the library or the user with a new copy of the same work, latest edition.
     
  15. How is replacement determined if the original item is unavailable? 
    Library staff will choose a similar work as a replacement.
     
  16. ho determines laptop replacement/repair costs? 
    MIETS (Management of Information & Educational Technology Services Department) determines these costs.
     
  17. What is the replacement cost for an iPad, and who determines repair cost? 
    IPad replacement cost is SAR4000, repair cost by MIETS.

  1. What actions can authorized users take with licensed content? 
    Authorized users can search, view, download, copy, print, and save content for academic purposes.
     
  2. Is off-campus access allowed? 
    Yes, both on-campus and off-campus access is available through Open Athens at https://my.openathens.net.
     
  3. What usage is prohibited? 
    Prohibited actions include commercial use, alteration, distribution to unauthorized users, or use of robots.
     
  4. How can resources be accessed on-campus? 
    Use Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS), click "full text Online" for access.
     
  5. How can resources be accessed off-campus? 
    Visit the library site, click "Effat University Library System," Ebsco Discovery Service, click "full text."
     
  6. Can resources be used for commercial purposes? 
    No, only scientific and academic use is allowed.
     
  7. Can resources be shared with unauthorized users? 
    No, sharing with unauthorized users is not permitted.
