Document Delivery Service (DDS)

The Document Delivery Service (DDS) offers access to research or study materials that are not available in the Effat Library & Cultural Museum collection. These materials are sourced from various suppliers globally, including overseas, Canada, the UK, American Universities, and more. If your search in the Effat Digital Library online catalog and Effat Discovery system indicates that the University does not possess the desired material, you are encouraged to utilize the Document Delivery Service.

Eligibility and Fees

Turnaround Time

The timeframe for delivery varies depending on the nature of your request and the source. On average, it can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours up to two weeks, depending on the supplier chosen and the delivery method. If the materials are challenging to locate or if the citation is incomplete or inaccurate, additional time may be needed. In such cases, we will promptly inform you of any delays.

Submitting Requests

All DDS requests must be submitted online through the Journal articles request form. All fields should be filled in. If you have specific time constraints, please note them in the appropriate place on the request form. Please note that we do not accept requests by phone or direct email.

Responsibility of Requestors

Before submitting the DDS request, users should check the online library catalog – Effat digital library. Both databases are accessible from the University Libraries homepage. Accurate and complete publication information will enable the Document Delivery staff to process your requests in the shortest possible time.

Materials Eligible for Requests

Journal articles, chapters or selections from books, papers from conference proceedings.

Materials not Eligible for Requests

We do not accept requests for materials available through Effat digital library, or any other material available in the library (through SDL or databases). We do not provide PHOTOCOPY services if articles are available in the library. In the latter case, we inform the user of the availability and location of the material requested.

Notification Delivery

All electronically received articles requested by DDS staff will be promptly forwarded directly to the requester's email address. This streamlined process aims to minimize turnaround time for article delivery and eliminate the need for requesters to physically visit the library for collection. The efficiency and convenience of our Electronic Document Delivery Service are facilitated through email communication. DDS will send notifications to your email once the article is received, so it's essential to check your inbox regularly. Most articles will be provided in Portable Document Format (PDF). To access the articles, please ensure you have Adobe Acrobat software installed on your PC.
