The library was founded in 1999 and in its first decade grew to about 25,000 items in English, Arabic, and other languages. In addition to academic works, students will find a range of trade magazines, newspapers, a fiction collection, and childrens' literature. The collection even contains rare volumes from the original Dar Al Hanan library, established by Queen Effat in the 1950s. Users can easily find any library item by searching the web-based catalog, which is updated daily and runs on the KOHA library system.

In addition to print resources, the library subscribes to over one hundred academic databases relevant to the programs offered, including several databases from Ebscohost, Proquest (e.g. ABI Inform, APA's PsychArticles etc.) the ACM Digital Library, IEEE, Credo Reference, and many more. These resources are easily available from any computer connected to the campus network as well as off campus, via a new VPN (Virtual Private Network) service run by the university's IT services unit.

Reference and assistant librarians will be happy to help all users find the information they need. Students are expected to be respectful to all library users, by avoiding loud conversations that might disturb others, setting their phones to silent or vibrate, cleaning up their workspaces and throwing away all trash, and in general, being considerate toward others who are trying to work.

The group study area is furnished with comfortable sofas and tables for up to six students. A silent study room offers carrels for individual study. Seven computers with color printing and a photocopier are provided for student use, and laptops, Kindle eBook readers and iPads are available for checkout. Free WiFi provides reliable service in the whole building. In addition to the main library, the Sharbatly Digital Library in the business building offers a quiet and relaxed space for individual and small group study.
